(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Oman Marketing and Services Company (Omasco), an Al Futtaim company and exclusive distributor of Honda in Oman, celebrated Omani women at a one-of-a-kind event held at the Sabco Centre in the capital region.
'Women can achieve whatever they set their mind to,' said Lt Col Shaikha bint Ashour al Hambasiyah, new head of Wattayah police station and chief guest at the event. This was a powerful statement that summarised the spirit of the event and acknowledged the contributions made by Omani women across sectors.
Hussain al Lawati, managing director, Omasco, said, 'The role of Omani women in the society has changed. They are now a force to reckon with. At Honda, we cherish and nurture the spirit of women and encourage them to take on leadership roles.'
'We are excited at the response this event has generated and are happy that we have been able to start a positive dialogue towards empowerment, achievement and continued success,' he added.
The networking event featured women from various walks of life, who spoke about the challenges they faced in their journey towards success.
Raya al Habsi, an Omani sailor, stated that she gave up her comfortable job at one of the leading banks to pursue her passion, i.e. Sailing. Despite facing initial hurdles, she worked hard, followed her dreams and eventually was successful. Through her personal experience, she encouraged women to be adventurous and 'follow their passion'.
Similarly, Hania al Zadjali, TV presenter, stressed the importance of being diligent in pursuing one's goals. Despite facing rejection and hardships in the beginning, Hana never gave up on her dream job and is now one of the most sought-after TV personalities in the country.
Despite the successes achieved by women over the last 40 years, thanks to the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the attendees felt that more women need to come forward to enable change.
