Court jails Kuwaiti to 20 yrs for beating his wife to death


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Oct 24: The Criminal Court presided over by Judge Waleed Al-Kandari sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to 20-year imprisonment for beating his wife to death. When the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received a distress call from a young girl who asked for help for her mother who was beaten severely by her father in Taima area, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location to find the woman lying dead in the bathroom in a pool of her blood. Her husband was standing next to her and holding a hammer and an iron pipe.

The daughter said her father attacked her mother so severely that her skull, spine and ribs were fractured and she eventually passed away. When securitymen interrogated the man, they detected the smell of alcohol from him and realized he was drunk. He was detained at Jahra Police Station and a case was filed against him.

Ex-wife assaulted: The Criminal Court sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to one-year imprisonment with hard labor for assaulting his exwife at her workplace. The court also referred the case to the special civil court. Representing the ex-wife was Lawyer Zayed Al-Khabbaz who presented a medical report from the forensics department to indicate the injuries sustained by his client as a result of the battering she endured in the hands of her ex-husband at her workplace until she lost her consciousness.
