US States Secretary arrives in Pakistan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD, Oct 24 (KUNA) -- United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson arrived in federal capital Islamabad on Tuesday for talks with Pakistanآ's civil and military leaderships on a host of issues.

The visiting dignitary is scheduled to meet Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Pakistanآ's Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa during his visit.

Pakistani-US relations, stability in Afghanistan and regional security will be discussed during the meetings, said state-run Radio Pakistan.

Tillerson is visiting Pakistan on the invitation of Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif.

He is the first high-ranking US official to travel to Islamabad after US President Donald Trump unveiled his revised strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia in August this year. (end) sbk.rk
