UAE- First IGCC session at Sharjah Book Fair targets innovative leadership

SHARJAH, 24th October, 2017 (WAM) -- The International Government Communication Centre, IGCC, of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, SGMB, has announced its hosting of an exciting interactive session at the Sharjah International Book Fair, SIBF, entitled 'Leading Creativity in Government Communication' by international motivational speaker Kevin Abdul Rahman on 1st and 2nd November.

This is the first IGCC partnership with the popular annual SIBF. The centre seeks to enhance its role in developing government communication in the region, arming it with new insights and ideas in this fast developing field.

The interactive session stems from the recommendations of the International Government Communication Forum, IGCF, hosted by the IGCC every year. The experts participating in the IGCF have emphasised moving to interactive communication stressing the need to put more effort into activating and offering more workshops and courses that improve the performance of practitioners and workers in the field of government communication.

The IGCC interactive session targets workers in government communication sector and university students looking to embrace it as a career and will discuss the ways of changing one's way of thinking and unleashing their creative potential.

During the session, Kevin Abdul Rahman, a renowned motivational speaker, will reveal the creative ways in which leading innovators and leaders lead governments, nations and organisations.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, SMC, highlighted the importance of the centre to attract international expertise to support the capabilities and performance of government communication staff and to arm them with the knowledge of the best international practices in government communication.

He said that the IGCC initiative, unveiled during the IGCF earlier this year, is driven by the vision of building an integrated government communication system and advanced platforms for producing knowledge and specialised programmes for training and improving skills and capabilities in government communication.

The SMC Chairman said that the centre aims to enhance the abilities of all those employed in in the government communication sector through implementing world-class programmes in professional development and training.

Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi called on all those working in the government communication sector, as well as the private sector in Sharjah and other emirates, to be part of the one-of-a-kind interactive session. He said that the IGCC has especially reserved 10 free seats for media and communication students.
