GCC chief, UN's Yemen envoy discuss political conditions in Yemen
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, Oct 23 (KUNA) -- GCC Secretary General Abdullatif Al-Zayani held talks in Riyadh Monday with UN special envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Sheikh Ahmad on political, security and humanitarian conditions in Yemen.
Al-Zayani expressed support for Ahmad's efforts to restart the political process in line with UN Security Council resolution 2216, the GCC initiative and its implementation mechanism, a press release said.
Al-Zayani said the Gulf Cooperation Council was looking forward see a political solution that restored security, stability and sovereignty of Yemen, thus ended suffering of the Yemeni people.
Ahmad is visiting Saudi Arabia and met with Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Hansour Hadi and his deputy Ali Saleh. (end) od.bs
