Egypt foils bid to smuggle arms, ammunition


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Oct 23 (KUNA) -- Egyptian fighter jets have foiled an attempt to smuggle arms and explosives from the western borders, the armed forces said Monday.

The military aircraft destroyed eight SUVs loaded with weapons, ammunition and explosives, as well as killing all "terrorists" inside the vehicles, they added in a statement.

This is part of the armed forces monitoring of mountains and borders to pursue the terrorists who carried out the deadly attack in Wahat, Giza, and those bhind them.

The attack in Wahat killed 16 servicemen and injured 13 others. (end) hdr.bs
