This spooky scene depicts a classic Halloween night – but has one unwelcome visitor…

Lurking among the ghoulish ghosts, the crazy clowns and the scary skeletons is ONE burglar – playing the biggest trick of all.

The timely teaser – created by security specialist Yale in conjunction with National Home Security Month – invites you to find the burglar, wearing a trademark black and white striped top as he makes off with his bag of loot on the scariest night of the year.

But with warnings of a 160 per cent increase in domestic burglary over the Halloween and Bonfire Night period, homeowners are being advised to protect their homes.

National Home Security Month, which runs throughout October, is raising awareness of the importance of home security and giving advice on safeguarding properties. Nigel Fisher, MD for Yale headline sponsor of NHSM, said: 'Unbeknown to many, the last week of October and the first week of November is actually the worst time of year for burglaries.

'As people go out and about trick or treating, or attending bonfires, their homes are being left unattended in the dark.

'Communities are therefore extremely vulnerable to unwanted guests, and should take additional steps to ensure all belongings are safe and secure.'
