In order to understand how much theNol card charges for every trip, we must learn the system that Dubai runs on. According to the RTA website, Dubai is divided into 7 zones. Each zone has Metro stations, bus stations and water bus stations.

At the end of a journey, theNol card will be charged according to the total number of zones you have travelled through.

The travelers are charged in three different aspects - travelling within 1 zone, travelling in two adjacent zones and travelling in more than two zones. So, the more zones you travel through, the higher is your fare on yourNol card.

Ingrid, a tourist in Dubai, is traveling to Burj Khalifa with her friend Tim who is a Dubai resident. They both take the Metro train from DAMAC Properties Metro Station in Zone 2. As Ingrid is a tourist, she buys a Red Nol card while Tim has a Silver Nol card.
When exiting at Burj Khalifa MS in Zone 6, Tim's Nol card is charged Dh5 for travelling within two adjacent zones, to and fro, while, Ingrid is charged Dh6 for one-way travel.
