Japanese Prime Minister to settle down North Korea's frenzy

(MENAFN) Upon achieving victory in Sunday's election, Shinzo Abe, Japanese Prime Minister has guaranteed a strong "counter-measures" against North Korea.

An early election was requested by Mr. Abe in order to gain greater authority in handling emergencies, particularly dealing with missiles that had been fired above Japan for months by Pyongyang that is considered a great threat.

According to Mr. Abe, speaking in Tokyo at a press conference, his win was the public's "vote of confidence" and on that foundation he said "we would dramatically show counter-measures against the North Korea threat."

Mr. Abe is planning to open the discussion of these countermeasures with world leaders, including Russia and China as well as with US President Trump, who is landing in Japan next month.
