Campaign launched to sell olive oil at 'reasonable prices'


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — Agriculture Minister Khaled Hneifat, Olive Presses Association President Inad Fayez and the Director General of Jordanian Farmers Union (JFU) Mahmoud Ouran have signed a memorandum of understanding to launch the 6th national campaign to market local olive oil to public and private sector employees for the current season, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Sunday.

The memorandum includes supplying olive oil, tested and certified by the Institution for Standards and Metrology, through specialised technical committees at reasonable prices. It also allows public sector employees to buy olive oil with a six-month instalment.

According to the agreement, the price of 'virgin olive oil class 2 container' stands at JD78, and JD82 for the six-month-instalment option. 'Virgin olive oil class 1 container' is priced at JD82, and JD86 for taking it through instalment. Organic olive will be sold for JD100. All containers weigh 16kg.
