First engineer from Qatar elected to Ammonia Safety Committee

The AIChE's Ammonia Safety Committee organised the 62nd Annual Safety in Ammonia Plants and Related Facilities Symposium in New York, from the 10th to 14th of September this year.
During the Symposium, the Committee elected Eng. Ahmed Rahimi, Continuous Improvement Manager at Qatar Fertiliser Company (QAFCO). It's worth to mention that Eng. Ahmed Rahimi (pictured), is the first member from Qatar and the Middle East to be elected for such position. Eng. Ahmed graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas (USA) in 1999, then immediately joined QAFCO as a Mechanical Engineer. He's expertise resides in Project and Maintenance Management, and currently occupying the position of Continuous Improvement Manager at the Company.
For this occasion, Eng. Rahimi stated: 'It is a genuine pleasure to be part of the AIChE's Ammonia Safety Committee and help implementing the safety measures across the companies. Being part of this committee proves QAFCO's commitment toward supporting plant safety and operations excellence.
The annual symposium is dedicated to improving the safety of plants that manufacture ammonia and related chemicals, such as urea, nitric acid, ammonia nitrate, and methanol. More than 400 attendees - including plant safety personnel, plant managers, and process engineers, maintenance engineers representing a spectrum of industries shared technological advances and discussed strategies for improving plant safety, maintenance, and management.
