Oman first GCC state to sign agreement to participate in Expo 2020 Dubai


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Oman is the first GCC state to confirm its participation in the Expo 2020 Dubai.

The sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), signed the agreement with the organising committee of Expo 2020 Dubai on the sidelines of the second International Participants Meeting (IPM) of Expo 2020 Dubai in Dubai.

The agreement was signed by Mohsin bin Khamis al Balushi, advisor in MoCI and Oman's commissioner general for the Expo 2020 Dubai and Najeeb Mohammed al Ali, executive director of the organising committee.

Oman's participation in Expo 2020 Dubai is based on the decision by the Council of Ministers to ensure an effective, high-level participation in such an important global event.

The Council of Ministers formed a ministerial committee headed by H H Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture and the membership of the ministers concerned to oversee and follow up the preparations for the event.

The sultanate will participate in this landmark international event alongside 180 countries and regional organisations, held over six months from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021.

The sultanate's pavilion will be designed to highlight the development and humanitarian achievements since the dawn of the glorious Renaissance. It will seek to highlight future aspirations with regard to the main theme of the expo - Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, and its sub theme - Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.
