ISM emerge overall champion at CBSE Oman Cluster Table Tennis Tournament


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The CBSE Oman Cluster Table Tennis Tournament was organized on Tuesday, 17 October 2017 at Indian School Muscat.

This one day event witnessed the active participation of twelve teams in the girls' category and nineteen teams from the boys' category from the Indian schools all over Oman. The event was conducted with much gusto and zeal to bring in the discipline among youngsters besides building camaraderie and team spirit.

The inaugural function of the CBSE Oman Cluster Table Tennis Tournament was held in the new multipurpose hall of Indian School Muscat. Mr. Rakesh Adlaka, First Secretary, Indian Embassy, Sultanate of Oman graced the occasion as the chief guest and declared the meet open. Mr. Shameer P.T.K was the guest of honour of the occasion. Dr Sharmila Sondhi, Convener of Staff Welfare Committee, and Dr Alex C. Joseph, Asst. Education Advisor, Board of Directors, Indian Schools in Oman was a special invitee. The Principal of the host school Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan welcomed the august gathering and a special welcome was extended to all the participating schools.

The chief guest in his inaugural address exhorted the participants to win honestly and lose gracefully. He reminded the participants that the competitive arena would teach them valuable life lessons and encouraged everyone to play their heart out. Mr. Harikrishnan, Head of the Physical Education Department administered the oath to the captains of the participating schools. The chief guest and the guest of honour played a few rallies and formally inaugurated the tournament. Aleena Thomas, Asst. Head Girl proposed the vote of thanks.

This day long tournament concluded with the valedictory function at Indian School Muscat. Thus came the fitting finale of this wonderful tournament wherein skill, zest and play contributed to the true sportsmanship among all the participants. The welcome address for valedictory function was presented by Divya Soni, Asst. Head Boy, Indian School Muscat. Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan congratulated all the winners and wished them good luck. He appreciated the enterprise of all the participating teams. The event was a grand success and all sports enthusiasts look forward to the upcoming cluster tournaments.
