Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored his 31st ODI century during the first ODI match against New Zealand at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium.

Going past Ricky Ponting's record, he now stands behind Sachin Tendulkar (49) for the most number of centuries scored in ODI cricket.

Incidentally, he also became the 13th player in the history of Indian cricket to play 200 ODI matches for the country.

Virat Kohli joined South Africa's AB de Villiers to become only the second player to score century in his 200th ODI match. Kohli's 121 is also the highest score by any Indian in his 200th ODI match.


Boult scare for Indian batting

Kiwi bowler Trent Boult came out as a nightmare for the Indian batsmen, after he sent back both the openers early in the innings.

After Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma, Boult picked up the wickets of MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya to end his 10-over spell with four wickets, 35 runs and one maiden over.

Tim Southee picked up three wickets for the visitors.


Second toss win in 20 years at Wankhede

Indian won the toss at Wankhede only for the second time in 20 years of ODIs. The last time, India won the toss at Wankhede was against South Africa in 2005. Today, India scored 280 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs.
