Japan: Typhoon warning

(MENAFN) Thousands of Japanese people need to evacuate, while several flights were called off and train services were disturbed as a typhoon is getting closer.

The Tropical Storm Risk monitoring site categorized the typhoon as a powerful Category 4 storm.

An agency official said: "The wind and rain will grow stronger as the night goes on, so take measures as needed as early as possible, preferably before it gets dark."

The agency has warned of intense raining and floods on the Pacific side of Japan.

NHK public television said that over 70,000 houses in many parts of the country were told to evacuate.
