(MENAFN) Attending the One America benefit concert for hurricane victims, former President Barack Obama expressed his gratitude his and stressed that he "could not be prouder" of American citizens participated in the benefit.
Obama stated "all of us on this stage here tonight could not be prouder of the response of Americans". He continued "when they see their neighbors and they see their friends, they see strangers in need, Americans step up."
Proceeding with the speech, Obama continued to convey his appreciation "and as heartbreaking as the tragedies that took place here in Texas and in Florida, in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands have been, what we've also seen is the spirit of America at its best: When ordinary people step up and do extraordinary things."
Furthermore, Obama did not fail to remember addressing former President George H.W. Bush. Obama praised his character and the courage that took him to serve America admirably. He also established that "he sets an example for all of us, as does First Lady Barbara Bush."
