(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The main committee of the Oman Science Festival 2017 met under the leadership of H E Saud al Balushi, Undersecretary for Planning and Human Resources Development in the Ministry of Education (MoE). The festival will be organised at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 24 to 28.
During its fourth meeting since its formation, the committee discussed various aspects of the preparations for Oman Science Festival. The committee also reviewed the activities to be carried out in the festival, and the aspects of partnership and support provided by the relevant institutions, as well as various aspects of media coverage.
H E Balushi said, 'The start of the Oman Science Festival 2017 is an initiative of the ministry to enhance interest in science as an important element in improving the economic and developmental value of the learning outcomes. The participation of many institutions is a successful outcome to the idea of partnership, highlighting the importance of learning science in our lives.'
He added, 'The first edition of Oman Science Festival 2017 will include a number of activities and programmes targeting visitors of different ages and interests. It includes more than 300 activities in the fields of technology, innovation, mathematics, engineering, robotics and science. The activities will be held in 11 governorates in order to have maximum visitors throughout the festival period. It will have activities in scientific and technical centres in various governorates.'
He said that the festival will include many applied and exploratory educational experiences in various fields of science and an exhibition of student innovations in the fields of natural sciences, mathematics, energy and transportation, engineering systems and the environment. Dr Zuwaina al Maskiry, director general of Educational Assessment, MoE, and deputy director, Oman Science Festival Organising Committee, said, 'The festival aims to reinforce the understanding of science and its applications in real life.'
