Beit Al Khair contributes 55,000 meals across UAE

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Beit Al Khair Society has contributed 55,000 free meals to vulnerable people in the country as part of the 'Year of Giving' initiative.

Abdeen Taher Al Awadhi, general manager of Beit Al Khair Society, said the meals were distributed in collaboration with the Emirates Islamic Bank.

The society had earlier started running two box-vehicles packed with healthy meals for the benefit of poor workers and low-income people, he added.

"Up to 55,000 free meals have been distributed to workers and bachelor residents all over the country over the last few weeks. We will distribute an additional 5,000 lunch and dinner meals, including hot food, cold juices and water, this week.

"The activity is part of the 'feeding food' project that is aimed to ease indigent people's suffering and bringing them happiness," Al Awadhi added.

Official figures show that Beit Al Khair, based out of Dubai, spends over Dh40 million on foodstuff projects, including Ramadan packages, Zakat Al Fitr, Adahi or Sacrificial Animals on an annual basis.
