Kuwait Social Min. commends blind society's services


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh commended Saturday the social role and activities of Kuwait Society of Blind, calling upon other NGOs to follwo the society's foot-steps.

Al-Sabeeh, also Minister of State for Economic Affairs, was speaking after sponsoring a marathon organized by the society to mark the world White Cane Day.

She appreciated the society's services for the blind, which enabled this segment to blend into the society.

UN set October 15 as the White Cane Day, aimed at highlighting blindness and how the blind and visually impaired can live and work independently while giving back to theor communities.

Kuwait Society of Blind was established in 1972 to raise awareness among the blind people and help them spend their free time wisely, as well as addressing obstacles facing them.

The society also organizes cultural, social, sport and women-related activities. (end) fr.bs
