Afghanistan- Recovered antique book handed over to museum


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) (Pajhwok): An antique book was handed over to the National Museum on Thursday after it was confiscated by police in central Maidan Wardak province, the Presidential Palace said.

Police had seized the book in Maidan Wardak on October 6 and detained three persons involved in the book's smuggling.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said police who prevented the book's smuggling were appreciated in a special ceremony at the palace today.

President Ashraf Ghani told the ceremony that the book's writer was one person and researchers could use it and provide information of the book to people.

He directed the Ministry of Information and Culture to create a joint committee of Afghan and foreign archaeologists to accurately analyze the antique book.

The president also stressed on regulations for protection and usage of historic monuments.

All historic monuments should be added to a list and displayed in a safe area, the president said, adding has a rich ancient culture and the country had been a connection point in the history.

Mohammad Fahim Rahimi, head of the National Museum, thanked the president for his attention to cultural heritage of Afghanistan and said many historic monuments were discovered last year.

Rahimi said he would take decisive steps for preparing regulations for the protection and usage of historic monuments.
