Boat collision causes 25 deaths in Tunisia


(MENAFN) As a Tunisian navy ship crashed to a wooden boat full of migrant off the country's coast, the death toll has risen to reach 25 deaths while 17 injured people were recovered, military authorities said on Monday.

A defense ministry statement said navy divers spotted the wreck of the wooden boat at the bottom of the sea off Kerkennah Island on Sunday.

Eleven bodies were recovered on Sunday near the site following six more on Monday.

Eight bodies were recovered earlier, and Tunisian officials have said 38 people were rescued after the October 8 collision, according to the authorities.
