Afghanistan- Diesel, sugar prices down in Kabul


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) (Pajhwok): The prices of diesel and sugar have dipped while that of Kazakhstani flour and Russian gold slightly increased during the outgoing week in the capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

Abdul Hadi, a worker at Wazirabad Fuel Station in Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of once liter diesel decreased from 46 Afghanis to 45 Afghanis while the same quantity of petrol remained steady at 46 Afghanis.

The price of liquefied gas remains stable as one kilogram of the commodity cost 60afs according to Sharif Ahmad, a gas seller in Kolola Pushta area of Kabul.

In food items, the price of only sugar has dipped while that of flour slightly hiked.

Food Traders Union head, Fazal Rahman, said the price of 49 kilograms of Pakistani sugar increased from 1,800afs to 1,700afs while the rate of 50-kg of Kazakhstani flour increased from 1,150afs to 1,160afs.

The prices of other essential items remain stable. Fazal Rahman said 24-kg of Pakistani rice cost 1,850afs and 16 liters of Khurshid ghee 1,080afs, the same rates of last week's.

Noor Ahmad Khairkhwa, a tea seller in Kabul Mandavi, said a kilogram of Indonesian green tea cost 280afs and the same amount of African black tea 300afs -- same as last week's.

Ahmad Wali Panjsheri, who owns a grocery shop in Dahn-i-Bagh area, sold a 50-kg bag of Kazakhstani flour for 1,220afs and a 49-kg sack of Pakistani sugar for 1,900afs.

He sold a 16-litre tin of Khurshid ghee for 1,150afs, a 24-kg sack of Pakistani rice for 2,100afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea for 300afs and the same quantity of African black tea for 350afs, higher than wholesale rates.

Haji Fawad Ahmad Salehzada, a jeweler in Timr Shahi area of Kabul, said one gram of Arabian gold cost 2,300afs but the price of the same quantity of Russian gold increased from 1,800afs to 1,850afs.

According to Sara-I-Shahzada moneychangers, one US dollar accounted for 68.30afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees 639afs this week against last week's rates of 68.20afs and 638afs respectively.
