Yemeni minister calls for sending student to war

(MENAFN) The youth minister in Yemen suggests cancelling school classes for a year to send students and teachers to the war.

He posted on Facebook: "Wouldn't we be able to reinforce the ranks with hundreds of thousands (of fighters) and win the battle?"

The teachers' strike over unpaid wages for nearly a year has pushed back the start of school year by two weeks, and when they finally opened, classrooms were nearly empty.

The minister said: "People close the schools under the pretext of a strike and when we think about how to take advantage of this situation, they take offence."
