Turkish raids kill nine PKK gunmen N. Iraq


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Oct 20 (KUNA) -- Turkish fighter jets killed nine Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) armed men in raids they launched over northern Iraq, the army said in a statement Friday.

It added that fighter jets raided some PKK positions in Zap, northern Iraq, and killed nine PKK gunmen.

PKK resumed military operations against Turkish forces in July 2015, ending a three and a half years lull.

The renewal of hostilities killed more than 1,400 Turkish forces and civilians, as well as 12,000 PKK gunmen in Turkey and northern Iraq. (end) rs.bs
