Norwegian companies reconsidering CO2 capturing projects
(MENAFN) According to newspaper VG, after the government stopped the state aid in the budget of 2018, Norwegian companies that work with carbon dioxide capture and storage said they need to seriously cut in their projects.
In the 2018 budget, the government has determined 20m kroner (2.5m USD) to enlarge wide-ranging facilities for carbon dioxide purification in Norwegian industry.
Norcem, Yara and the waste incineration plant of Oslo Municipality, are Norwegian companies that have been working for many years to develop ways for capturing of carbon dioxide from their industrial production, which would prevent the release of tons of greenhouse gas.
Environmental foundation Bellona said that the industry currently needs around 400m kroner from the government, which is more that the assigned budget, and the companies are reconsidering their decision to work on the capture of carbon dioxide.
