Important issues include: hospital blood tests are not a direct test of alcohol in the blood, it is an indirect test of NADH that is assumed to be equal to alcohol, hospital blood testing can only be done on serum or plasma, the alcohol concentration of serum or plasma is always higher than in whole blood, per se blood alcohol based DUI charges are based on whole blood, bias causing factors can affect the accuracy of hospital blood test results, and manufacturers warn that these tests should be used for medical purposes only.
