EU approves Euro100 million in financial assistance for Jordan


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Oct. 20 (Petra) -- The European Commission has approved the disbursement of a Euro100 million loan to Jordan under a Macro-Financial Assistance program.

It said Friday that the disbursement marks the launch of the second Macro-Financial Assistance program for Jordan with a total worth of Euro200 million, which follows a first package of Euro180 million.

The disbursement of the second Euro100 million instalment is expected to take place during the course of 2018, after Jordan fulfills its agreed commitments.

A statement on the Commission's website quoted Pierre Moscovici, Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, as stating that : "Today's decision to disburse Euro100 million to Jordan under a new financial aid program demonstrates the EU's continued support for the country in these challenging times. I look forward to continuing our work with the Jordanian authorities on their reform program and in securing a stable, stronger economy for Jordan to the benefit of its entire population." YK
