Arab ministers of environment praise UAE's experience in limiting pollution

CAIRO, 19th October, 2017 (WAM) -- Arab Ministers of Environment have praised the UAE's experience in preserving its environment, limiting pollution, educating its people and encouraging them to preserve the environment, and establishing related environmental awards, as well as its major successes in this area.

They made their statements during the 29th session of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment, CAMRE, which was headed by Sheikh Abdullah Ahmed Al Hamoud Al Sabah, Chairman of the Board and General-Director of the General Authority for the Environment in Kuwait, and saw the participation of environmental ministers and Arab government delegations.

The UAE delegation was headed by Dr. Saad Mohamed Al Numairi, Minister's Advisor at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.

The ministerial session of the Council, which was held under the theme, "Environmental Governance," discussed the environmental impact of the council's sustainable development goals, following the implementation of the decisions of Arab summits on development, the economy and society, especially those related to the environment, as well as an Arab-wide strategy to limit the risks of natural disasters, and the Arab-wide participation in the upcoming UN Environment Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Council discussed its submitted reports regarding the environmental situation in occupied Palestine and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, as well as in Sudan, Somalia, Comoros, Djibouti, Libya, Jordan, Lebanon and Yemen.
