Jordan- Army Foils Inbound Drug Smuggle from Syria

AMMAN —AlGhad— A joint military, anti-narcotics force intercepted and foiled an inbound drug smuggling attempt through the northern borders with Syria Wednesday night, a ranking military source with the Jordan Armed Forces — Arab Army stated today, Thursday.

A large quantity of narcotics was confiscated in the possession of two smugglers, one of them armed, trying to infiltrate the borders into Jordan.

The rules of engagement were enforced, as the force exchanged fire with the smugglers, driving them back into Syria and forcing them to abandon their load.

When searching the vicinity, the joint force retrieved some 180 thousand narcotic pills, and transferred the contraband to the specialised authorities.
