QIA chief gets Russian Order of Friendship


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) CEO Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohamed bin Saud al-Thani has received the Order of Friendship from Russian President Vladimir Putin in recognition of his contribution to the development of bilateral relations. According to a statement issued by QIA yesterday, Igor Sechin, the Chief Executive of Russia's Rosneft, handed over the Order of Friendship on behalf of the Russian president to Sheikh Abdullah on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum held in the Italian city of Verona.

Attack on Kandaharbase condemned
Qatar yesterday expressed its condemnation of the attack that targeted a military base in Kandahar province of southern Afghanistan, resulting in a number deaths and injuries. The Foreign Ministry in a statement reaffirmed Qatar's firm stance on rejecting violence and terrorism, whatever their motives or causes. The statement expressed Qatar's condolences to the families of the victims and to the Afghan government and people, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
