Iranian First Vice-President Es'haq Jahangiri has departed for Turkey to attend the ninth Summit of the Developing 8 (D-8).
Jahangiri told reporters at Tehran airport that he will discuss the issues of bilateral cooperation with Turkey and also the latest developments in the Islamic world.
Speaking about mutual ties between Tehran and Ankara, he said that the two countries need to boost the trade turnover to $30 billion from the current $10 billion.
Jahangiri added that he will discuss plans for expansion of cooperation in the fields of industry, transportation, exports and banking ties in order to fulfill the goal to triple the trade.
The top official also noted that he will follow up on plans to carry out trade between the two countries through the national currencies.
The central banks of Iran and Turkey have recently agreed to use national currencies in bilateral trade.
