(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- At Indian School Muscat (ISM), principal, Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan, SMC member, Rizvi, principal, Centre for Special Education, Dr Analpa Paranjpe, vice principals, asst vice principals, heads of various departments, teachers and students of the Primary Section, Middle Section and staff and students from the Centre for Special Education observed the World Mental Health Awareness Day on the school grounds wearing badges which supported this noble observance.
The event began with Tanuja Sharma of the counselling department addressing the gathering. She stressed on the importance of observing this day. October 10, 1992 was the first time that this day was observed as the World Mental Health Awareness day by the World Mental Health Federation. The theme for this year is 'Mental Health in Work Place.'
Principal Dr Chauhan in his address applauded the counselling department for taking the initiative and spreading the awareness among the student community.
The principal also requested the students to take some time out and spend some time in meditation to be at peace with our own self. He also appreciated the unstinted efforts taken by the CSE to guide and train the students with special abilities.
As a part of this observance, a pledge was taken promising concern and support to the needy. Students stretched out their right hand and repeated the pledge after the principal.
Soon after the pledge, a human chain was formed by the students and teachers with the school choir singing melodiously to the tunes of, 'We Shall Overcome' to show our solidarity and support towards this day of observance.
Counsellor Preshob thanked the school authorities for making this day a memorable one. He expressed his gratitude to all those gathered in the field. He also expressed his gratitude to senior VP (Admin) Saji S Nair for rendering support to the counselling department.
This great event was indeed a memorable day for all.
