(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- A one-day workshop on Lego Mindstorm EV3 controller was recently organised by Academic Support Services, for pre-final year and final year students of Computer Science and Electronics and Communication Engineering students under the banner of CSI and IEEE Professional Body by Mina Yacoub from Atlab. Around 40 students participated in the workshop.
The workshop began with a brief introduction on Lego Education given by Yacoub. Students were made aware about the various educational activities and applications that Lego Education offers.
The interactive session began by dividing the students into groups. Each group was given a Lego Mindstorm kit to work with. Yacoub then explained about the different components available in the kit. The groups were then asked to assemble their very first robots with the help of the instructions provided in the manual. By programming the EV3 controller, the students performed various tasks with their robots along with using the sensors, which the students enjoyed immensely. Each task demonstrated a unique feature of the robot.
This hands-on demonstration helped in effective learning of robotics for the students and proved to be very informative.
This workshop exposed the students to the field of robotics and its applications. The students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to dean prof (Dr) S L Gupta.
Overall, the workshop proved to be very informative, interesting and enjoyable. The flow of the workshop was suitable for all students, irrespective of their course. All topics were presented in an organised manner. The concepts were explained very clearly.
