All new commercial or public housing must be "fully decorated," while semi-finished units will not be allowed to enter the market by the end of 2022, according to an announcement from the municipal government of Chengdu city, Sichuan province, reported.

In the downtown area, new property programs have been required to gradually meet the target of 100% decorated from 2017 to 2022. While in the suburbs, the percentage of finished housing is set at 80%.

The new rule aims to promote the development of green housing and upgrade the construction and real estate sectors.

According to the government, property developers must provide various decoration plans to home purchasers.

Buyers for homes with an area less than 50,000 square meters should be given at least two schemes. For those over 50,000 square meters of housing, developers must offer at least three plans.

Both Zhejiang and Hainan provinces have also released similar regulations, the report said.
