Qatar- MME shares tips on home gardens

As fall in temperature favouring plantation, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment has educated 100 women and housewives about planting decoration plants and flower trees at homes.
The move aims at taking the green campaign of the country to new height. The Public Parks Management Department at the Ministry organized agriculture awareness lecture entitled 'Home Garden at the headquarters of the Ministry yesterday.
'The lecture aims at creating awareness about the importance of plants and home garden, said Mohamad Ali Al Khawri, Head of the Public Parks Management Department.
'Today's event is part of series of awareness lectures planting trees scheduled to be held during coming days, said Al Khawri said, adding that during past few years trend of home gardens had increased encouraging the department to hold such activities. He said that the awareness lectures would help increase green areas in the country. Al Khawri said that the Public Parks Management Department caters in two ways to home gardens providing consultancy to those seeking information for developing home gardens and providing seasonal and decoration plants at nominal prices.
He said that the agricultural engineers at the Department also used to provide designs of home gardens and help select suitable plants as per season. 'We have received overwhelming response from the women for the lecture, said Maryam Mubarak Al Dusari, Biological Expert at the Department.
Al Dusari said that a total of 100 women had participated in the workshop and during coming days more awareness lectures would be organized for men and women interested in home gardens.
