Kuwait zoo to be divided

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Oct 17 : Director General of Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) Eng Faisal Al-Hassawi disclosed about a study to divide the Kuwait Zoo into two parts — one part as a public garden and the other part as the zoo — as well as increase the entry fee to a range between 500 fils and KD 1 per head, reports Al-Rai daily. This comes within the framework of PAAAFR's plan to improve its facilities and increase its revenues. Eng Al-Hassawi explained that the zoo is regarded as a touristic landmark that attracts about 500,000 visitors annually. The costs of taking care of the animals and increasing their diversity as well as maintaining the zoo's facilities were the reason behind the study to increase the entry fees from 250 fils to KD 1 per person — both citizens and expatriates — in order to cover the cost of running the zoo. School children, official delegates, people with special needs and children less than two years of age will be excluded from paying the fees.
