Jordan hails US lifting of sanctions on Sudan


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Oct. 17 (Petra) -- Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, and his Sudanese counterpart, Ibrahim Ghandour, on Tuesday emphasized the two countries' keen interest to take practical steps towards improving relations and cooperation in all fields.

In a telephone conversation, Safadi congratulated the Sudanese minister on lifting U.S. economic sanctions imposed on Khartoum, reiterating that Jordan welcomes "this important decision".

The two ministers stressed that opportunities exist to enhance bilateral ties, as the two countries had the will and determination to realize this through improved economic, trade and investment cooperation that would further strengthen political coordination.

They also tackled the latest developments in the region and agreed to sustain communication and coordination on various regional issues in order to serve mutual interest.
