Qatar- Top European jazz musicians to perform at Katara festival
Top jazz musicians from 11 European countries will feature the fourth edition of Katara European Jazz Festival to be held from November 8 to 12.
Launched in 2014, the festival has grown through the years, from five participants in its inaugural edition to 11 participating countries this year including Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, Romania and Switzerland.
'It is our utmost pleasure and gratitude to host the European Jazz Festival for the fourth consecutive year at the Cultural Village Foundation- Katara, the valley of cultures, said Katara General Manager Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti at a press conference held at Katara yesterday to formally announce the event.
Katara's GM pointed out that the Katara European Jazz Festival is a significant platform to interact and exchange knowledge and authentic cultural genres of music, while flourishing the Jazz audience with a new window for mutual cultural cooperation, as well as building communication bridges between people from all walks of life, and establishing various platforms for intercultural dialogue.
'The festival embodies the strong cultural partnership between the State of Qatar and the European continent. We also hope that this type of international music, which expresses a unified musical language, will open the doors of creativity and promote the values of participation, tolerance and vital understanding amongst individuals and societies, he stressed.
Al Sulaiti expressed gratitude and appreciation to Qatar Airways, Qatar Music Academy, FNAQ Qatar (Darwish Holding), and Fifty-One East for their support.
Each of the ambassadors of the participating countries spoke at yesterday's press briefing. They expressed appreciation to Katara for its unceasing efforts and support in providing a platform to showcase their cultures through the concerts by renowned Jazz stars who promise to dazzle Katara's visitors.
Festival performances will take place behind Katara Building 5 from November 8 to 12 from 7pm to 9.30pm. Two to three artistes will perform every night during the course of the festival. In addition, there will be workshops to be conducted by the Jazz artistes in cooperation with Qatar Music Academy.
