Upon the invitation of Sheikh Faisal Al Thani, EU Ambassadors were warmly welcomed to visit his outstanding museum collection in Doha on October 14.
Sheikh Faisal and his family graciously received the EU Ambassadors. It was a great pleasure and honour to be guided by Sheikh Faisal himself as well as meeting his family for an open exchange, said a statement issued by Embassy of Sweden.
The European participants were left in awe after witnessing the Sheikh's very personal devotion for Qatari cultural identity and his comprehensive interest for global cultural heritage.
The EU Ambassadors found the visit truly delightful, many also finding pieces of the collection having roots to their homelands. The participants were excited to learn more about the anticipated European tour of part of his museum collection called ‘Cultures in Dialogue'.
One participating ambassador remarked that 'Europe has a lot to offer in various cultural areas, but rarely has one seen such a comprehensive collection uniting cultural artefacts of all kinds, periods and places. EU ambassadors regularly undertake such joint activities, including paying visits to institutions in the State of Qatar. These activities offer an excellent opportunity to experience local customs and culture together, whilst representing Europe and its cultural diversity.
