Qatar re-elected to UN Human Rights Council


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The United Nations General Assembly, at its 72nd session, has re-elected Qatar to the United Nations Human Rights Council for a fourth round of three-year term for 2018-2020 by 155 votes from 193 votes. Qatar's re-election comes for its active and pioneering role in the protection and promotion of human rights at the international level through its active membership in the council in three terms, as well as hosting the UN Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region. The Foreign Ministry welcomed Qatar's re-election. It said in a statement that the victory reflects the international community's confidence in the active and positive role played by Qatar.
