Qatar- Municipalities continue inspections, cleanups

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Al Rayyan Municipality conducted 621 inspection tours last month, during which 24 reports were issued for violation of Law No 8 of 1990 on the regulation of human food control.
Of these violations, 12 were resolved through reconciliation after paying the stipulated fines, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) said in a statement.
Food products found unfit for human consumption were destroyed during the campaign, which included 33 whole carcasses of sheep.
Also, two violating shops were closed and 36 food samples sent for laboratory examination.
Meanwhile, the MME's General Cleanliness Department has conducted a cleanup campaign over the past two weeks, covering almost all the beaches and islands in the country.
Garbage and debris were removed during the initiative.
Also, Al Daayen Municipality organised the second introductory forum with contracting companies to discuss relevant issues with them and stress the importance of abiding by construction and excavation rules.
In addition, the municipality asked them to avoid disposing of their refuse materials in an improper manner.
Preparations are under way to put in place the work plan for the ‘Farm Your Country' project for 2017-2018, the statement notes.
The project is being implemented for the second consecutive year through co-operation between the MME's Public Gardens Department and AlFaisal Without Borders Foundation.
It targets 30 local and international students, and the planting process is set to start on November.
The MME's Agriculture Affairs Department recently took part in the International Apiculture Congress in Turkey.
