Dubai Investment Week opens

Dubai,16th October, 2017 (WAM) -- The Dubai Investment Week 2017 has been opened by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, to reinforce the emirate's reputation as a preferred destination for investments and partnerships.

Organised by the Dubai Investment Development Agency, an agency of Dubai Economy, the forum is dedicated to give full exposure for the emirate's investment-conducive environment and the incentives provided by the government to promote businesses as part of the country's strategic plan to wean the domestic economy off oil.

The forum is tailored as well to highlight the growing role played by the economy of the emirate in the global arena and its growing stature as a pioneering smart and sustainable city.

Sheikh Maktoum attended a Leadership Dialogue session during his visit, which brought together a number of dignitaries from the UAE public and private sectors, including, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, and Mohamed Al Abbar, Board Chairman of Emaar Properties.

The forum also provides the opportunity to learn about the advantages of Dubai as a preferred global destination for investment, mechanisms and opportunities for partnership between the public and private sectors, as well as the latest developments in investment opportunities in the strategic and emerging economic sectors in the region and the world.

"The event addressing the issue of the future of investment reflects the visionary outlook of our wise leadership," said Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of the Department of Economic Development, in his inaugural speech of the forum.

"Dubai Economy has managed over 25 years to establish a rich and attractive economic environment that has successfully drawn a large number of major international organisations to the emirate, taking Dubai as their regional headquarters," Al Qamzi added.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Lt General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and Public security in Dubai, Abdulla Abdul Rahman Al Shaibani, Secretary General of the Executive Council of Dubai, and Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman and Director General of the Dubai Health Authority along with Marcelo Crivella, the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, and a number of top officials, business people and investors.
