(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Oct. 16 (Petra) -- Shots were fired Monday dawn at power distribution feeder in Southern Shuneh, causing a blackout in the area located 30km south of Amman, the Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO) said in a statement.
The EDCO explained that five power distribution feeders at the Southern Shuneh were damaged after unknown assailants opened fire at them at 13:00 am, triggering the power outage in the area.
According to the statement, the incident took place after the company started taking measures to rectify the status of violators in cooperation with the security agencies and various concerned authorities in the area.
The statement explained that due to recurrent attacks against the company's grid, the loss of electric power in the area amounted to 55%, while the volume of debt for subscribers amounted to JD 7,8000 million.
