Qatar Stock Exchange investors' wealth surges by 2.28%

Qatar Stock Exchange's (QSE) benchmark index gained 210.04 points, or 2.58 percent, last week when the bourse closed at 8,342.09 points. With the significant gain the market cap reached at QR453.81bn, registering a recovery of 2.28 percent compared to QR443.71bn at the end of previous week in the previous week.

Trading value last week increased by 2.59 percent to reach QR845.59m compared to QR824.24m.

Trading volume increased by 0.96 percent to reach 38.90 million shares, as against 38.53 million shares, while the number of transactions rose by 20.42 percent, to reach 12,704 transactions as compared to 10,550 transactions. Banking and financial services sector led traded value last week with 45.12 percent of the total traded value. Industries sector accounted for 20.08 percent. Real estate sector accounted for 13.89 percent and consumer goods and services sector accounted for 5.87 percent.

Banking and financial services sector led traded volume last week with 32.49 percent of the total traded volume. Industries sector accounted for 23.48 percent. Real estate sector accounted for 23.16 percent and telecoms sector accounted for 10.25 percent.

Banking and financial services sector led traded number of transactions last week with 33.03 percent of the total number of transactions. Industries sector accounted for 20.53 percent. Real estate sector accounted for 19.87 percent and transportation sector accounted for 9.67 percent.

Out the 45 listed companies 26 ended last week higher, while 18 fell and one remained unchanged.

QNB led trading value last week accounting for 21.32 percent of the total traded value. Industries Qatar accounted for 7.05 percent and Masraf Al Rayan accounted for 6.43 percent, reports QNA.

When compared on daily basis, the QSE index gained 8.25 points, or 0.10 percent yesterday compared to Wednesday's closing. The volume of shares traded decreased to 7.58 million from 8.22 million on Wednesday and the value of shares increased to QR207.32m from QR146.71m on Wednesday.

Out of the 45 companies listed on QSE, shares of 41 saw trading yesterday. Of these, 18 gained, 21 closed lower and two remained unchanged.

Indices of three sectors ended in green and remained four sectors ended in red today. QSE Total Return Index gained 0.10 to 13,989.19 points.

QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index declined 0.45 percent to 3,340.62 points and QSE All Share Index added 0.18 percent to 2,340.74 points.
