Kuwait rejects supporting any candidate in UNESCO elections

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) PARIS, Oct 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Ambassador to France Sami Al-Sulaiman categorically rejected on Friday reports from social media that the Kuwaiti representative to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is supporting or siding with any candidate for UNESCO chief post over other candidates, currently taking place in the French capital Paris.
"The State of Kuwait stands on the same distance to all Arab candidates who are applying for this post," the ambassador said. Al-Sulaiman noted that a victory by any Arab candidate would be a victory for Kuwait and support to Arab presence in UNESCO.
The ambassador also called on social media activists to ensure accuracy and transparency in their reporting. (end) mjz.ha
