About 2.18 million manats ($1.28 million) have been returned to Azerbaijani exporters since early 2017, as part of the mechanism for the return of part of the costs for the export of non-oil products.

The head of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO), Rufat Mammadov made the remarks during the press conference on October 13, addingthat the volume of products exported within the framework of this mechanism amounted to $22.69 million ($13.34 million).

AZPROMO head noted that the mechanism for refunding a part of costs affects 500 items of products for 15 commodity groups, adding that this mechanism allowed not only to expand exports to traditional countries, but also opened new markets for local entrepreneurs.

"When we talk about traditional markets for Azerbaijan, we mean Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Belarus and other countries, but within the framework of this mechanism we started exporting to Canada, Romania, Australia, South Korea, Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania and the Seychelles," Mammadov stressed.

He went on to say that the exporters of wine have received the greatest benefit from the use of this mechanism.

"They account for 62 percent of the funds returned under the mechanism for the return of part of the costs," he explained.

The state refunds 3-6 percent of the customs value of goods to non-oil exporters within the framework of mechanisms on promoting exports of non-oil products.

Further he added that as a result of export missions within the promotion of the 'Made in Azerbaijan' brand, local companies signed 30 agreements on the export of products abroad.

'We are already exporting pomegranate juice and hazelnut to Germany, chicken eggs to Afghanistan, fruit juices to Pakistan, and various products-to Qatar and Kazakhstan," Mammadov stressed.

Overall, under the promotion of the Made in Azerbaijan brand, 9 export missions have been organized - three in 2016 and six in 2017. Azerbaijani exporters visited China, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Germany, Qatar, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other countries. In addition, by the end of the year, it is planned to send export missions to China, Russia and Saudi Arabia.
