Qatar and Oman join hands for football development

The Qatar Football Association (QFA) signed a cooperation agreement with its Omani counterpart here yesterday at QFA's headquarters, Al Bidda Tower.
The agreement was signed for the development of football in both countries and acts as a milestone aimed at facilitating the growth of football in Qatar and Oman.
The agreement, which focuses on areas of cooperation between the two parties, was signed by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the QFA and Sheikh Salim Al-Wahaibi, President of the Oman Football Association (OFA).
The signing ceremony was attended by Saoud Al Mohannadi, Vice President of the QFA, Mansoor Al Ansari, General Secretary of the QFA, Mohsen Bin Hamad Al Masrouri, Vice President of the OFA, and Said bin Othman Al Balushi, General Secretary and Executive Director of the OFA.
The purpose of this agreement is for both associations to invest in the brotherly and bilateral relations between the two countries and further explore areas of interest between them. It also intends to focus on exchanging expertise and experiences in various areas.
Al Ansari, General Secretary of QFA said: 'Signing this cooperation agreement with OFA is part of the fruitful cooperation between the QFA and OFA which has existed for many years. It also intends to explore cooperation in various sports fields and build on the strong relationship between the two associations. I hope that the agreement will impact Omani and Qatari football positively.
He added: 'A joint working group will be set up to study in details the agreement terms in order to activate it. A plan of action will be in place, which will include a comprehensive report that highlights the most important achievements, schedule of activities and events organised by both associations.
General Secretary of OFA, Al Balushi expressed his happiness of signing the cooperation agreement between the two associations, and thanked the QFA President and QFA officials for their warm welcome and hospitality.
He commented: 'This agreement will undoubtedly have the greatest impact in strengthening the relations between us (OFA) and the QFA, especially as it aims to enhance cooperation between the two associations across all levels and fields, he said.
'The agreement will focus on transfer of knowledge at the technical and administrative level of both associations and a special attention will be given to the exchange of expertise on the use of technical experts, coaches and referees, he added.
'The establishment of training camps and benefitting from the exceptional expertise of Aspire Academy and Aspetar will also be an aspect of the agreement. Lastly, a close cooperation will be in place between the national teams, clubs and age group teams, Al Balushi concluded.
