(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Over 2,200 students were evacuated after a fire broke out in a school in Dubai. There were no injuries.
According to Dubai Civil Defence, fire broke out in Al Khaleej National School at around 11.50am on Thursday.
Fire engines and ambulances immediately reached the school within five minutes, and brought the fire under control by 12.20pm.
According to officials and eyewitnesses, smoke could be seen billowing from an AC mounted near the ceiling on the first floor.
In a statement to Khaleej Times, Gems Education, which runs the school, said: "We confirm that there was an isolated fire related incident that took place in an elementary art class room of Al Khaleej National School, located in the Garhoud area of Dubai.
"The Dubai Civil Defence Department took control of the situation. All students and teaching faculty were immediately evacuated from the premises and there were no injuries.
"The health and safety of our students and staff are our top priority, and we will continue to work with authorities in their investigation."
