Iraqis, Kurds must resolve differences through dialogue, says France


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) PARIS, Oct 12 (KUNA) -- France said Thursday that Iraq's government and the Kurdish regional authorities must resolve their differences through dialogue and by respecting the Iraqi Constitution.

The French government has "several times" reiterated its position on the differences between the two parties and "it is indispensable the differences are resolved through dialogue," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Agnes Romatet-Espagne said in a briefing.

She added that both Iraqi and Kurdish authorities should "engage on the path of national reconciliation in the framework defined by the Iraqi Constitution." "This dialogue must be carried out in the respect for the unity and territorial integrity of Iraq and should take into consideration the rights of the Kurds," the spokeswoman indicated. (end) jk.ma
