Mexico: UN demands investigation for prison riot
(MENAFN) The UN has required an investigation into a prison rebellion in Mexico, which resulted in the deaths of over dozen people.
The death toll increased to 17 last night, over fights inside Cadereyta jail in Nuevo Leon state this week.
According to El Universal newspaper, a statement from UN pushed authorities "to clarify the tragedy that has occurred and to grant justice to the victims and their families".
State security spokesperson assured that direct orders to start shooting were not given, and officers were following protocol.
